Did you know that peanuts increase the quality of nutrition?

People who eat peanuts have a better supply of proteins, vitamins and minerals. This conclusion was reached by a U.S. study carried out by Pennsylvania State University. It analysed two-day consumption logs of close to 15,000 people, the findings being as follows: People who eat peanuts have a higher intake of protein, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids, fibre, vitamins A and E, folic acid and the minerals calcium, magnesium, zinc and iron than do those who do not eat peanuts. Although energy intake was higher in peanut-eaters, body mass index (BMI) was lower than in people who do not eat peanuts. This means that no negative effects on body weight could be ascertained. Moreover, the peanut-eating group demonstrated lower cholesterol levels. Overall, these results show that the consumption of peanuts increases the quality of nutrition.
